Begin your experience Friday evening at House Wine with a wine tasting accompanied by Fiore's olive oil tasting.

The Bar Harbor Merchant Association and Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce invite you to stroll along the downtown on Saturday, May 21st to experience what makes us special. Merchants, restaurants, cafes and crafters will line the sidewalks and highlight their taste of Bar Harbor beginning at 9am.  Food establishments will begin offering free samples of food at 11am.  Enjoy a sample from your favorite restaurant and ones you have not tried before.  Who knows, maybe you will find a new favorite!

The craft fair will be held in the parking lot adjacent to The First.

Do you like chowder?  Food lovers will have the opportunity to sample local seafood chowders and vote for their favorite. Winers will be selected in the following categories: 

Best Chowder - Crowd Favorite

Best Chowder - Judge Favorite

Top off the weekend with a relaxing Jazz Brunch at Rupununi.

A book signing at the Bar Harbor Inn

 

Vincent C. Messer will be in the lobby of the Bar Harbor Inn & Spa on Friday, August 27^th from 6-7pm for a book signing.

 

 

 

“A History of the Bar Harbor Inn” was recently released and is available at the Bar Harbor Inn Gift Shop as well as the online shop.  The book is filled with interesting history of more than three decades showing many faces the Inn has worn.

 

Immediately following the book signing please join us for a tour of History Hall led by historian Joe Marshall.

Maine Craft Guild's Mount Desert Island Show

The Maine Craft Guild's Mount Desert Island Show is often referred to as the most outstanding, most successful and longest running craft show in Maine. At the 35th Annual Show, 80 of Maine's finest craftspeople will fill the newly renovated gymnasium and cafeteria at the Mount Desert Island High School with their work transforming the space into a gallery-like setting of carefully designed individual displays. Come and meet extraordinary artisans and purchase work of heirlom quality handmade here in Maine.

Queen Victoria For A Day!

On Queen Victoria's maiden voyage, the beautiful ship stopped in Bar Harbor Maine for a visit! 

The ship, on her way up the Maine coast, came into the Bar Harbor harbor at approximately 7:30 am this morning. The weather cooperated and we had a clear sunny day to view the ship and to show off our beautiful coast line and village. We had a welcome party for the Captain and passengers and Janice Strout, Celebration Cakes, who bakes many of our Wedding Cakes, baked a beautiful sheet cake in honor of the ship!

Fourth of July in Bar Harbor!

Watch local businesses put their lobsters to the test in a high-speed crustacean contest where guts and determination will reign supreme. Proceeds benefit the MDI YMCA Scholarship Program. Free Entry to Acadia National Park!

Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor Maine will waive entrance fees on three weekends this summer as part of the National Park Service's effort to encourage more Americans to visit national parks!

The "free" weekends are:  June 20-21, July 18-19 and August 15-16, 2009.

If you haven't seen the park, you really should!  There are so many beautiful spots in the park that I can't possibly tell you my favorite - I will have to just say I love the whole park!

Night Sky Festival in Bar Harbor

The first "Night Sky Festival" will be held in Bar Harbor, Maine this fall.  The festival begins on the evening of September 17th and continues through sunrise on September 21st.

The festival is to celebrate the beauty of Acadia's night sky through education, science and the arts.

From stargazing in Acadia National Park to a special performance of night sky themed works by the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, the public is invited to participate in each facet of the festival.

The Festival is presented by the Island Astronomy Institute in collaboration with Acadia National park, Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce, Friends of Acadia, and a unique partnership of community and government organizations.
